Hispanic Heritage Month Recipes

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! Each year, from September 15 to October 15 Americans celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month by sharing the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America. 2021 was especially significant because it was the 200th anniversary of Costa Rican Independence from Spain. Here are a few traditional & unique Latin American recipes you may want to add to your menu:

In My Kitchen - June 2015

It's time for another round of the very cool monthly happening called "In My Kitchen" run by Celia at Fig Jam and Lime Cordial. I can't believe it's already been a year since joining in the fun!

So here we go....

This Month in my Kitchen...

Garden Buddha among the Japanese Irises

May was a hot month, possibly the harbinger of an even hotter summer! June started off wet, rainy, and quite cold....but quickly decided to change to hot and humid.

We had a lovely Memorial Day BBQ with family and friends. Everyone was quite impressed with our gardening skills, looking forward to gifts of fresh produce throughout the summer. One of our Friends noticed the amount of wild mushrooms growing in our yard, and thought it would be Hil-ar-i-ous to gift me a mushroom farm growing kit.
*If you don't know already, I work with fungi so as far as I'm concerned eating it, is a no-go. Kishore, however, loves them, but don't worry he doesn't go without... Mom always gives him an extra serving when she makes them for dinner.*

The Kitchen Garden is growing at full steam and we are slowly reaping the rewards.

Strawberries, Kohlrabi, Collards, and Broccoli.

Some new kitchen gadgets to play with...
Bee's Wrap - great for covering bowls & keeping the insects away. Enameled Oven Pan to replace a cracked one, High Temp Oven Mitt, Acacia Wood bowls trimmed in Copper, New Nesting Serving Utensils, and a Dough Whisk - great for stirring but not over mixing.

Sliced and dried some pineapple slices for snacking in a new acacia wood bowl with stainless steel trim.

Tandoori Cauliflower w/ Spicy Green Chutney & Naan.

Please make sure you stop in and take a glance at everyone else's kitchens!

So tell me...What's happening in your kitchen this month?

If you're curious here's a link to what we were up to  during last year's In My Kitchen: June 2014

    1. Hi Ella, I thought the same thing initially but I do like it a lot. It is very good at aerating dough and incorporating nuts/fruit/ seeds rather evenly throughout. I say go for it! :) Thanks for stopping by.
